TALENT MISSION STATEMENT:
To represent the blind community in traditional and non-traditional media through presenting, advertising and my social media content. I want to be the change I wish to see
Lucy Edwards is a British blind broadcaster, journalist, disability activist, and the founder of the accessible beauty brand Etia. Having lost her full eyesight at the age of 17 to a rare genetic condition called incontinentia pigmenti, she turned her personal experience with sight loss into a public mission to educate the world on blindness and universal design. Today, she is one of the UK’s most recognizable disabled creators, boasting a global social media community of more than 2.8 million followers and over 1 billion content views. Her work is rooted firmly in the social model of disability, advocating that people are disabled by inaccessible environments and attitudes rather than by their bodies alone.
Lucy’s broadcasting career is marked by historic industry firsts, including becoming the first blind presenter to host shows on BBC Radio 1 in 2019. She is a two-time Royal Television Society award-winning presenter for her BBC travel documentaries and the author of the acclaimed memoir Blind Not Broken, as well as a children's book series featuring a blind heroine. Her advocacy work frequently extends into high-profile brand partnerships. As a Pantene ambassador, she helped introduce accessible NaviLens technology to their packaging, and she famously served as the UK ambassador for Mattel’s first-ever blind Barbie.
As a highly sought-after keynote speaker and accessibility consultant, Lucy has shared stages with global leaders at major events like Cannes Lions, SXSW, and Brilliant Minds. In 2026, she met with the UK Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street to advocate for disabled parents and was introduced to Oprah Winfrey as a representative of YouTube's top UK creators. She is currently pioneering the future of inclusive consumer products with her intentionally accessible beauty brand, Etia. Backed by Estée Lauder Companies’ New Incubation Ventures and TikTok’s The Catalysts program, Etia is designed to empower the 1.3 billion disabled people worldwide through tactile packaging and universal design that proves accessibility can be luxurious
